The SF-24 was developed fully under the leadership of Fred Vassuer

Ferrari has revealed its 2024 F1 car, the SF24, which introduces an all-new design philosophy, breaking away from its radical design formulated in F1-75 and SF-23, from 2022 and 2023 for F1’s ground effect aerodynamics era. It has taken inspiration from the Adrian Newey-designed, record-breaking RB18 and RB19, which allowed Max Verstappen and Red Bull to cruise to twin world championships on the bounce.

While most cars have adopted bare carbon, the SF-24 bucks that trend as it has actually reduced the amount of black from the SF-23. It also adds parallel yellow and white stripes along the length of the side pods, which have been overhauled in keeping with the Red Bull design language.

Last year, Ferrari F1 GM and team principal Fred Vasseur confirmed this car will have 95% new components — and many call this car a revolution. The SF-23 was the closest competitor to the RB19 in terms of pure pace in qualifying and race trim, with it also being the only other car to take a sole win with Carlos Sainz winning in Singapore.

This is also the first car under Vasseur, who took over from Mattia Binotto at the end of the 2022 season. The car is expected to be Red Bull’s closest rival, but the expectation is still for Red Bull to dominate given its level of dominance, which allowed it to start development for the RB20 much earlier than its rivals.

The SF-24 will be first seen on track on February 21 in Bahrain for preseason testing before the first race of the season weekend, which also starts in Bahrain on February 29. The car will be driven by Charles Leclerc who recently renewed his contract with the Scuderia and Carlos Sainz Jr who is in his last year with the team as he will make way for 7-time world champion Lewis Hamilton in 2025.
