In a move that could excite SUV enthusiasts and EV buyers alike, Mahindra has rolled out significant discount offers across its lineup. While some popular models like the Scorpio-N, Thar Roxx and XUV 3XO have no discounts, other vehicles—especially the Thar 4x4 and XUV700 are seeing major price cuts. These incentives appear to reflect Mahindra's efforts to maintain competitiveness in a market shifting towards both rugged off-roaders and electric vehicles.
Starting with the less generous end of Mahindra's discount spectrum, the XUV 3XO compact SUV comes with no upfront discount or exchange bonus. This is likely because the XUV 3XO already holds strong in its segment, praised for its safety ratings and feature-packed trims. Similarly, the Scorpio N, a strong contender in the compact SUV market, and the Thar Roxx, a lifestyle off-roader, remain without any discount offers.
Mahindra’s long-standing bestseller, the Bolero, is being offered with a discount of up to ₹90,000 in cash and a ₹10,000 exchange bonus. Its cousin, the Bolero Neo, gets a slightly smaller ₹85,000 cash discount and a ₹20,000 exchange bonus. Both models have established their reliability, but with increasing competition in the SUV space, Mahindra’s substantial cash discounts on the Bolero range may be a strategic move to retain customer interest in these ageing platforms.
The XUV400 EV, Mahindra’s electric foray in the compact SUV market, comes with a ₹50,000 cash discount, ₹30,000 exchange bonus, and a ₹10,000 corporate discount. Given the burgeoning interest in electric vehicles and competition from brands like Tata Nexon.ev and now with the new MG Windsor EV, this discount package seems designed to sweeten the deal for buyers who are still hesitant about the EV shift.
Mahindra’s iconic Thar off-roader is seeing a significant price drop. The Thar 4x2 is being offered with a cash discount of up to ₹1.36 lakh, while the Thar 4x4 boasts an even more impressive ₹1.5 lakh cash discount. These cuts come despite the Thar’s solid standing as one of the most sought-after off-road vehicles in India. The discount suggests Mahindra may be pushing to clear inventories ahead of potential upgrades or new variants, or simply capitalizing on demand in an increasingly competitive off-road market, where rivals like Force Gurkha and Maruti Suzuki's Jimny are jostling for attention.
Arguably, the XUV700—Mahindra’s flagship SUV—sees the most striking price reduction. With price cuts of up to ₹2.2 lakh since July 2024, Mahindra has shaken things up for those eyeing a high-tech, spacious family SUV. The XUV700 has already been lauded for its tech-heavy features, powerful engines, and competitive pricing. The recent price drop might reflect Mahindra’s need to stay aggressive against stiff competition from Tata Safari, Hyundai Alcazar, and others.
