Google Gemini app is now available on the Play Store in 9 Indian languages.
Google has launched the Gemini app in nine major Indian languages. The Gemini app and Gemini Advanced capabilities are now available in Hindi, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Malayalam, Marathi, Tamil, Telugu, and Urdu.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Google CEO Sundar Pichai wrote, "Exciting news! Today, we're launching the Gemini mobile app in India, available in English and 9 Indian languages. We're also adding these local languages to Gemini Advanced, plus other new features, and launching Gemini in Google Messages in English."
The Gemini app can now be downloaded on Android phones via the Play Store. Users can type, talk, or add images to access Gemini's assistance for tasks like helping with home repairs, recipes, or social media posts. In addition, voice features from Google Assistant will also be integrated.
The expanded language support provides access to Gemini Advanced's more powerful AI models. New capabilities include summarising up to 100 emails or analysing and visualising data from spreadsheets and other files uploaded by users.
Gemini is also being integrated into Google Messages, initially in English, to allow direct collaboration within the messaging app while drafting texts, brainstorming or planning.
As part of Google's privacy policy, files and information are kept private and not used for model training. Google says the expanded access across languages and platforms aims to empower more people in India to engage with AI assistance naturally in their preferred language through conversational experiences.
