Ola Electric was served a show cause notice earlier this month by the CCPA.
We recently reported that Ola Electric has been served a show cause notice by the Central Consumer Protection Authority (CCPA) owing to raising customer complaints. The latest reports suggest that difficulties for the biggest electric two-wheeler brand in the country won’t be reduced anytime soon. The government is planning to rope in ARAI Automotive Research Association of India to verify complaints filed by Ola customers. Apart from this, ARAI will also check whether the Ola S1 scooters are compliant with the FAME and PM E-DRIVE guidelines for subsidy and that warranty is also part of the above schemes.
Ola customers have been facing a torrid time with respect to after sales issues for many years. In the past a lot of customers have taken to social media to highlight their grievances, tagged founder Bhavish Aggarwal complaining about issues and some even burned their scooters opposite Ola dealerships. Despite so many complaints, Ola Electric hasn’t been proactive in resolving them and the brand image has taken a hit. Recently Bhavish Aggarwal found himself in the middle of an ugly public spat with Kunal Kamra, when the comedian highlighted Ola service issues.
As for the company, the public outcry has had an impact on its scooter sales. Although Ola Electric still remains the market leader, its market share has tumbled a lot. If the same sales downfall continues, it wouldn’t be long before legacy players such as Bajaj Auto and TVS will overtake it as the market leader of the two-wheeler EV segment.
