Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost

Launched as part of the brand’s ongoing Icons Motorcycles Collection campaign, the Gray Ghost celebrates 35 years of the Fat Boy.

Harley-Davidson has decided to pay tribute to one of its most iconic bikes, the Fat Boy, with a special Gray Ghost edition. Launched as part of the brand’s ongoing Icons Motorcycles Collection campaign, the new Fat Boy Gray Ghost also celebrates 35 years of the Fat Boy being in production, and brings back the legendary Gray Ghost moniker from 1990. Only 1,990 units of this special edition model will ever be manufactured for the global market. To further ascertain its iconic stature, Harley-Davidson has treated the bike with a special painting process called Physical Vapour Deposition (PVD). The outcome is a bright and shiny bike that gleamers and rightfully captures all the aspirations and love one has for Harley-Davidson bikes in a typical American way.

Harley-Davidson has used a special painting process called Physical Vapour Deposition on the Fat Boy Gray Ghost.

The PVD process has also been used by the Milwaukee-based manufacturer for the first time as the main material on a full-scale production bike. It offers better corrosion resistance than traditional chrome plating, however, H-D could not do away with chrome totally. As this shiny metal can still be found on the side covers and frame. Other aesthetic treatments that stand out include those round air cleaners, yellow accents on the cylinder heads, and a leather seat valance with lacing and tassels. The iconic muscular tank has remained the same but now boasts of several commemorative medallions harking back to the original winged graphic from the 90s.

Powering the Harley-Davidson Fat Boy Gray Ghost might be the same monstrous 1,923 cc, Milwaukee-Eight V-Twin engine. But the mill has been updated here for 7 per cent more power and 3 per cent increase in torque from the 2024 Fat Boy to produce 101 bhp and 165 Nm.

Besides that, the rest of the hardware components are the same as the outgoing Fat Boy. Right from its recalibrated suspension down to those three selectable ride modes (Road, Rain, and Sport), along with safety features including cornering ABS, tyre pressure monitoring system, traction control, and drag-torque slip control. All of these can be accessed via the 5-inch analog-TFT console mounted on the fuel tank. Lastly, for those seeking creature comfort H-D is also offering heated gear connectors and a USB-C power port.

Harley-Davidson has not explicitly mentioned as to how many Fat Boy Gray Ghosts will come to India. We reckon there should be a few units slotted  for us.. As for its price, it will be quite the expensive affair, as the standard Fat Boy would set you back by more than ₹25 lakh (ex-showroom) but there are rumours that India might reduce tariffs for Harley bikes in the future.
