The Nightster 440 will feature a sporty-cruiser styling and will be the second product in the 440 family.
At the launch of the Harley-Davidson X440 earlier this month, Hero officials had hinted that more products will be released based on this platform. While they didn't provide any further details, a new trademark filing has given us hints of its future product. Hero has trademarked the name Nightster 440 and this could be the second offering in the 440 family.
The big change will be the styling as the Harley-Davidson X440 is a roadster, the new Nightster 440 will be a sporty-cruiser. It’s likely that the upcoming motorcycle will take many design cues from the Nightster 1200 like the large fuel tank, round headlight, scooped out seats to give it an imposing stance. The Nightster 440 will carry forward the same round TFT screen as seen on the X440 with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

The underpinnings will also be shared so expect the same frame and suspension hardware, but the wheels could be different to better suit its characteristics. Powering the bike will be a 440cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine that develops 27 bhp and 38 Nm of torque on the X440. It will be interesting to see whether Harley-Davidson retunes the engine or the gear ratios, one thing we’re sure is that the torque-heavy nature of the powerplant will be maintained.
Since the Harley-Davidson X440 recently made its India debut, the Nightster 440 will not be launched soon. We expect the new Nightster 440 to ride into the Indian market in the first half of 2024 and it could be priced between Rs 2.50 and 2.80 lakh (ex-showroom). Once launched, it will compete against the Triumph Speed 400, Jawa Perak and the upcoming Royal Enfield Shotgun 350.
