Harley-Davidson has rejigged the X440 lineup in India, discontinuing the entry-level "Denim" trim.
Harley-Davidson X440 was launched in July 2023 but couldn’t create a lasting impression among the Indian riding community. The company has now introduced a new version of the same called the X440 T, priced at ₹2.79 lakh (ex-showroom). With only 13,963 units of the H-D X440 sold across the country in the previous fiscal year, it was believed that the retro-style roadster was on its way out.
Contrary to earlier beliefs, Harley-Davidson will continue to retail the original X440. In fact, the company has trimmed the lineup from three to two variants, discontinuing the base Denim trim. Moreover, the American bikemaker has reduced the prices of the other two variants by up to ₹25,000.
After the latest update, the Harley-Davidson X440 is available in two variants: Vivid and S, priced at ₹2,34,500 and ₹2,54,900 (both ex-showroom), respectively. The price drop has made the H-D X440 much more accessible. Besides the change in prices, the Harley-Davidson remains largely unchanged but the company claims to have improved the overall fit and finish of the product which was one of the common complaints when the bike was first introduced.
Variant | New Price | Old Price | Difference |
S | ₹2,54,900 | ₹2,79,500 | ₹24,600 |
Vivid | ₹2,34,500 | ₹2,59,500 | ₹25,000 |
At its core, the X440 continues to be powered by a 440 cc, single-cylinder, air-and-oil-cooled engine that delivers 27 bhp and 38 Nm of torque, paired with a 6-speed gearbox. The motorcycle retains its steel trellis frame, complemented by upside-down front forks and twin rear shock absorbers, providing a well-balanced ride suited for city commutes and occasional highway travel. Safety and convenience features are unchanged as well, offering front and rear disc brakes with dual-channel ABS, a digital TFT display, and an LED headlight.
