Over the past three years, Qubo has diversified its automotive product range beyond dashcams to include connected car solutions.
Hero Group-backed Qubo is capitalising on India's emerging appetite for vehicle dashcams, positioning itself as the market leader in a category that barely existed five years ago. Headquartered in Gurugram and operational since 2017, has identified a massive opportunity in India's dashcam sector, projecting the total addressable market at over 40 million units, says a report by Autocar Professional.
Since introducing its inaugural dashcam model in 2022, the company has achieved remarkable traction with domestic sales exceeding 400,000 units. These figures have established Qubo as the leading player in India's passenger vehicle dashcam segment, where it claims to control 50-60 per cent market share.
"The category did not exist when we entered the market, and it really took off for Qubo. We are building products for India," Nikhil Rajpal, Founder & CEO, Qubo, was quoted as saying by Autocar Professional.
Operating an R&D facility in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, the homegrown brand prioritises indigenous technology development, focusing on the software, cloud infrastructure, and hardware components of these electronic systems.
"Temperature and light conditions, video clarity, software, and image refinement have been the key areas of focus for our R&D team. We have our own software driving these devices, and that is a big differentiation compared to our competitors' products. We have our own cloud platform for connecting these devices as well," Rajpal noted.
The company forecasts substantial expansion opportunities in the dashcam category. According to Rajpal, current penetration stands at merely 1-2 per cent in India's passenger vehicle market, while mature markets like China have achieved 60-70 per cent adoption rates.
"The way the dashcam market has taken off in India, it could likely hit the 5 per cent penetration mark within the next 2-3 years itself," he pointed out.
Over the past three years, Qubo has diversified its automotive product range beyond dashcams to include connected car solutions, telematics systems, GPS tracking devices, tire inflators, and recently launched in-vehicle multimedia entertainment displays.
"Our idea is to offer a unified ecosystem of connected accessories that offer a seamless experience on a single platform," Rajpal added.
While competitors predominantly rely on Chinese imports for dashcam products, Qubo has adopted a domestic production approach to ensure appropriate quality standards, pricing, and durability for Indian market conditions. The company operates through an outsourced manufacturing arrangement in Noida, where it locally assembles and produces electronic components domestically.
"We have been growing 100 per cent every year, and are targeting a 60 per cent growth this year (FY26). We are witnessing a rapid change in the proportion of entry-level to high-end devices," Rajpal said.
The company highlights a consumer transition toward premium products, including the Dashcam Pro 3K, Dashcam Pro 4K, and dual-camera Dashcam Pro 4K systems with front and rear recording capabilities.
"We are seeing a migration towards premiumisation as well as overall growth of the market. People are understanding the value of better image quality, more features, and built-in ADAS features," he added.
Previously, entry-level dashcams represented over 80 per cent of Qubo's sales volume, but this proportion has decreased to approximately 50 per cent as customers increasingly recognise the value of advanced devices with integrated safety features, including parking mode monitoring.
Qubo's flagship Dashcam Pro 4K incorporates ultra-high-definition recording through its Sony IMX415 sensor, delivering enhanced image capture performance, especially in low-light environments. The sensor's 140-degree viewing angle ensures comprehensive front-vehicle monitoring, capturing detailed high-definition footage stored on integrated SD cards.
