Royal Enfield Himalayan 440 Launched at ₹2.29 Lakh

Royal Enfield has officially launched the new 2026 Himalayan 440 at the inaugural Himalayan Basecamp in Ladakh, celebrating ten years since the introduction of the original model.

The launch marks a return to the simple, accessible philosophy of the original 411 cc model while introducing mechanical upgrades guided by rider feedback. Initial units will feature a special ten-year anniversary badge on the fuel tank and will be available in three colourways: Sela Black, Mustang Brown, and Nelong White.

Starting at ₹2.29 lakh (ex-showroom), bookings for the updated adventure motorcycle opened on September 4, 2026, across authorised dealerships and the company website.

The motorcycle is powered by an upgraded 443 cc single-cylinder, long-stroke engine that delivers 25.4 bhp at 6,250 rpm and 34 Nm of torque at 4,000 rpm, paired with lower noise, vibration, and harshness (NVH) levels. Power is delivered through a new six-speed gearbox, featuring revised ratios for easier low-speed manoeuvring and a dedicated sixth gear for relaxed highway cruising.

The cycle parts include a half-duplex split-cradle frame supported by 41 mm telescopic front forks with 200 mm travel and a linkage-type rear monoshock providing 180 mm wheel travel. Rolling on 21-inch front and 17-inch rear spoke wheels, the motorcycle provides 220 mm of ground clearance and an accessible seat height of 800 mm.

Stopping power comes from a 300 mm front disc with a two-piston floating calliper utilising larger pistons, paired with a 240 mm rear disc and switchable dual-channel ABS. Practical touches include a 15-litre fuel tank, a new LED headlamp, a digital-analogue instrument cluster, Tripper navigation, and a USB Type-C charging port.

The motorcycle also comes supported by Royal Enfield's extended warranty programme, offering up to 7 years of coverage alongside Roadside Assistance. This coverage combines the standard 3-year/30,000 km warranty with an additional 4-year or 40,000 km extended package.
