Hero MotoCorp has named Sachin Agrawal as its new Chief Technology Officer (CTO), with the appointment taking effect on 21 May 2026. He steps into the role vacated by Vikram Kasbekar, who is leaving the technology brief but will continue with the company in his capacity as Executive Director on the board.
Agrawal will oversee research and development across two sites: the Hero Centre for Innovation and Technology in India and the Hero Tech Centre in Germany. His remit spans the company's work on next-generation mobility, vehicle electrification, and alternative fuel technologies -- areas that have become central to Hero MotoCorp's long-term product strategy.
Agrawal arrives with close to three decades of automotive engineering experience behind him. Most recently, Agrawal held the position of Executive Vice President and Head of R&D and Technology at VE Commercial Vehicles, the joint venture between the Volvo Group and Eicher Motors. His technical work has spanned diesel, CNG, electric and hydrogen powertrains, as well as connected vehicle systems, artificial intelligence integration, and software-defined vehicle architecture.
Earlier in his career, Agrawal worked at Daewoo Motors in South Korea, where he was involved in chassis development for the Matiz. He has also chaired the SIAM Frontier Technology and Innovation Group and led the Volvo Group's Global Centre of Excellence for Medium Duty Engine Development.
Pawan Munjal, Executive Chairman of Hero MotoCorp, said in a statement that Agrawal's background would help steer the company's technology direction as it pushes harder towards an electrified future.
