HMD has joined hands with Mattel to launch the HMD Barbie Phone.
HMD Global has launched a nostalgic phone for retro phone enthusiasts -- the HMD Barbie Phone. This limited-edition device comes with classic flip phone design with new features, available exclusively through HMD.com for Rs 7,999.
The phone comes in a distinctive pink colour and honours the Barbie brand. HMD has joined hands with Mattel to launch the HMD Barbie Phone, a retro-inspired flip phone designed for those seeking a break from smartphone overuse.
The bright pink device features a mirror on the front, two interchangeable covers (1992's Totally Hair Barbie design and a vintage 'shooting heart' pattern), and comes with customisation options including crystal stickers and Barbie-themed charms on a beaded phone strap.
The HMD Barbie Phone comes equipped with a dual-screen, featuring a 2.8-inch internal display complemented by a 1.77-inch external screen that doubles as a mirror. The device runs on a T107 CPU with the S30+ OS.
The phone offers 128MB of ROM and 64MB of RAM, with expandable storage via MicroSD card supporting up to 32GB. Connectivity options include Bluetooth 5.0, USB Type-C port, and a traditional 3.5mm audio jack. The device supports either dual SIM or single SIM configuration with 4FF + 4FF format.
Powering the Barbie Phone is a 1,450mAh battery that provides up to nine hours of talk times. There is an MP3 player and FM radio that works with both wired and wireless connections. For photography, the phone includes a VGA camera with torch flash functionality.
The compact device measures 108.4 x 55.1 x 18.9 mm and weighs just 123.5 grams, making it lightweight and pocket-friendly.
"In today's hyper-connected world, we're proud to offer a refreshing alternative with our Barbie-inspired feature phone. By partnering with this beloved cultural icon, we're committed in helping people to take meaningful breaks from the constant digital noise without sacrificing style or fun. This collaboration perfectly aligns with the growing demand for feature phones and Barbie's enduring popularity," Ravi Kunwar, VP and CEO, HMD India and APAC, said in a statement.
