The new Gold Wing Tour is the most expensive Honda motorcycle on sale in India
In the world of motorcycles, the Honda Gold Wing holds a special place for marrying luxury on two-wheels and technology. It has been on sale globally for close to five decades and has been among the flagship motorcycles for the Japanese two-wheeler giant. Honda has launched the Gold Wing Tour in India with a staggering price tag of Rs 39.20 lakh (ex-showroom). This makes it among the most expensive motorcycles on sale in India. The new Honda Gold Wing Tour will be brought to our country via the CBU (completely built-up) route from Japan.
What makes the Honda Gold Wing such an iconic motorcycle is the features that it comes loaded with such as a 7-inch TFT display that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Other goodies include navigation, electrically adjustable windscreen, tyre pressure monitoring system and even airbags! Powering this mammoth is a gigantic 1,833 cc, 6-cylinder engine delivering 125 bp and an incredible 170 Nm. The gearbox is unique too as it employs a 7-speed DCT (dual clutch transmission) as seen on cars.
Commenting on the launch, Tsutsumu Otani, Managing Director, President & CEO, Honda Motorcycle & Scooter India, said, “We are pleased to launch the new Gold Wing Tour in India. Over the years, the Honda Gold Wing has redefined the concept of luxury touring on two-wheels with its hi-tech features and ultra-comfortable riding experience. HMSI is certain that the new Gold Wing Tour will excite the travel enthusiasts and raise the level of their touring experience by several notches.”
Honda only brings in limited units of its CBU offerings to the Indian market and we aren’t sure how many units of the new Gold Wing Tour have been allotted. Also, the Gold Wing Tour is only available in a single shade of Gun Metallic Black in India, which is a bit disappointing as a customer spending close to Rs 50 lakh on a motorcycle should at least get access to all the colour options that’s available to international consumers.
