The Honda NX500 is the spiritual successor to the CB500X and it will be available in India as a CBU model
Honda’s mid-displacement adventure tourer contender was spruced up in late 2023 and the Japanese bike maker has now brought the new NX500 to our shores. The successor to the CB500X has been launched in India priced at ₹5.90 lakh (ex-showroom India). It will make its way to India via the CBU route and will be exclusively sold at Honda’s BigWing dealerships.
Mechanically, the NX500 is powered by the same 471cc, liquid-cooled, parallel-twin cylinder engine that churns out 47bhp at 8600rpm and 43Nm at 6500rpm. Transmission duties are taken care of by a six-speed gearbox with assist/slipper clutch. The ADV also comes with Honda Selectable Torque Control (HSTC, Honda lingo for traction control) as standard.
The NX500 does look quite a lot different from the CB500X before. The face is a whole lot sleeker and edgier with LED lighting all around. However, the tail section is still as compact as before. Moreover, The Honda NX500 is available in three colour options, namely, Grand Prix Red, Matte Gunpowder Black Metallic, and Pearl Horizon White.
Just like the CB500X, underpinning the NX500 is the same steel diamond-tube mainframe supported by Showa 41mm SFP-BP USD fork and Pro-link monoshock with a 5-stage preload adjuster. The ADV rides on a 19/17-inch front/rear wheel combination fitted with 110/18 and 160/60 trail-pattern radial tyres. The wheels are equipped with dual 260 mm discs with two-piston calipers at the front and a 240mm disc with a single-piston caliper at the rear. However, the Y-shaped 5-spoke alloy wheel design in the NX500 is completely new.
As for its instrument cluster, the NX500 gains a new 5-inch colour TFT screen with optical bonding for improved visibility under the bright sun. It supports Bluetooth connectivity and can connect to both Android and iOS devices. This can be accessed by Honda RoadSync smartphone app that enables turn-by-turn navigation, ability to control calls and music.
Bookings for the sub-500cc adventure motorcycle have already commenced, and deliveries will start from February 2024 onwards.
