A few minor tweaks have also been made besides making the adventure tourer compatible with the latest emission norms.
To comply with the latest, and stricter Euro5+ emission norms, Husqvarna has updated its flagship adventure tourer, the Norder 901. Besides making the motorcycle more environmentally friendly, Husqvarna also decided to introduce a bunch of updates to make it more compelling than before. Starting with the new colour option, which, to be honest, does not make the bike look too different from before. However, the different graphic design gives the bike a slightly different appeal.
Mechanically, Husqvarna has not tinkered with the KTM-sourced 889 cc parallel-twin engine, and it continues to dish out the same 105 bhp and 100 Nm. However, the exhaust system has been revised to comply with Euro5+ emission norms. Husqvarna claims that this revision allows the Norden 901 to breathe more freely while performance remains uncompromised.
Feature-wise, the Husky Norden 901's traction control has been updated to be less intrusive yet precise enough to keep you from sliding. A new hazard lighting system has also been introduced, and a USB-C type port onboard keeps your mobile or GPS device charged/ connected. Lastly, the rearview mirror has been updated for a longer and wider surface, which allows for better visibility.
Beyond these, the rest of the bike has essentially remained the same. It continues to be built on the same chromium-molybdenum chassis sprung by WP XPLOR fully adjustable suspension at both ends. Similarly, features like the 5-inch TFT screen, heated grips and seats, cornering ABS with Off-road mode, etc, and much more have all remained the same.
As for its availability in India, the chances of Husqvarna bringing the Norden 901 is next to nil. The brand already retails the naked sport Svartpilen 401 and Vitpilen 401 - both of which don’t rake in the kind of solid sales that they should ideally do. Despite being built around the same KTM LC4c platform and available at a much more affordable price tag. So to bring a big premium bike to India in this backdrop does not make for a sound business decision.
