Despite tough competition, the Creta continues to reign supreme in the compact SUV space.
Hyundai Motor India Limited has reported that its Creta mid-size SUV achieved annual sales of more than 2 lakh units in CY2025, averaging 550 units daily. The model has been the top-selling SUV in India cumulatively over the past five years and marked 10 years since its launch, with a CAGR exceeding 9% from 2016 to 2025.
With a market share above 34% in the mid-size SUV category, Creta maintains a strong position. First-time buyers for the model rose from 13% in 2020 to 32% in 2025. Sunroof-equipped variants made up over 70% of sales, while diesel options contributed 44%.
Tarun Garg, Managing Director & CEO designate, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said the milestone reflects customer trust and Creta's growth from a capable SUV to a preferred choice. He added that the brand's appeal has expanded, with aspirations evolving toward features like sunroofs, and the company remains focused on innovation.
The Creta offers multiple powertrain choices: 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol (manual or CVT), 1.5-litre turbo diesel (manual or torque converter auto), 1.5-litre turbo GDi petrol (manual or DCT), and an electric variant. The range also includes a sporty N Line variant that comes with the turbo petrol engine as standard.
In India, the Creta competes with the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Kia Seltos, Tata Sierra, Skoda Kushaq, Maruti Suzuki Victoris, VW Taigun, Toyota Hyryder, and the upcoming Renault Duster.
