Hyundai has revealed the Ioniq 3, an electric compact car built on the E-GMP platform.
Hyundai Motor Company has officially introduced its latest electric vehicle, the Ioniq 3, which is designed to bring premium efficiency to the compact car segment.
Developed primarily at the brand’s technical centre in Germany, the new model shares its underlying 400V E-GMP architecture with the recently launched Kia EV2. However, the Ioniq 3 distinguishes itself through a focus on streamlined design, which the manufacturer refers to as an aero hatch silhouette. This sleek body style allows the car to slice through the air more effectively than its more boxy counterparts.
The focus on aerodynamics yields big benefits for drivers concerned with range. While using the same battery options as the Kia, the Ioniq 3 manages to extract considerably more distance from a single charge. The standard range variant features a 42.2 kWh battery and an electric motor producing approximately 145 bhp.

For those requiring more endurance, the long range version utilises a 61 kWh battery paired with a 133 bhp motor. Thanks to its low 1.50 metre height and optimised roofline, the long range model can travel up to 496 km on a full charge.
Inside, the cabin layout represents a departure from previous designs. It features a large, tablet style central touchscreen and a secondary driver display behind the steering wheel. The vehicle also marks the debut of the Android Automotive based infotainment system for Hyundai in certain regions.
Practicality remains a core focus despite the car’s lower profile. The boot includes a unique storage solution known as a megabox, which provides a deep compartment beneath the main floor capable of holding a standard suitcase.
India launch of this car remains a mystery as of now, but it’ll be interesting to see which new EVs Hyundai brings into the market, since the Creta Electric hasn’t set any sales chart on fire.
