Hyundai Motor Company has launched a new initiative to improve the cooling inside the vehicle. It says it will achieve this by applying a Nano Coating Film on its vehicles. This initiative has been launched in Pakistan. Hyundai India said this initiative will likely also make its way to vehicles in India.
Through its ‘Made Cooler By Hyundai’ campaign, Hyundai Pakistan applied the Nano Coating Film in 70 cars in Lahore where temperatures can soar up to 50 degree celsius during the summer. The Nano Coating Film is said to reduce the cabin temperature by up to 10.98 degree and 12.33 degree celsius when compared to vehicles with traditional window tints and the ones without, respectively.
The Nano Coating Film is an advanced version of vehicle tints that can block heat while maintaining clear visibility inside and outside the vehicle. It is comprised of three layers that Hyundai claims “selectively block or emit specific wavelengths of solar heat”. The outer layer radiates heat at mid-infrared wavelengths, while the other inner layers reflect incoming heat at near-infrared wavelengths.
Hyundai also claims that the Nano Coating Film, when applied with regular window tints can help increase the cooling effect inside the cabin. However, this can only be done in countries or regions where window tinting is allowed to an extent. The transparent film is said to be more effective in hot and dry climates as Hyundai claims the cooling effect is optimised at higher outdoor temperatures.
