The refreshed Creta Electric lineup offers more choices for Indian electric SUV buyers with a budget around ₹18-24 lakh.
Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) has expanded its Creta Electric lineup with three new feature-loaded variants, marking a strategic update to its electric SUV. The newly launched variants are the Hyundai Creta Electric Excellence (42 kWh), Executive Tech (42 kWh), and Executive (O) with a larger 51.4 kWh battery pack. These variants promise enhanced driving ranges of 420 km and 510 km respectively, addressing range anxiety concerns.
The Creta Electric range is now priced between ₹18.02 lakh and ₹24.40 lakh (ex-showroom), depending on the battery pack and variant. The 42 kWh Excellence variant starts at ₹21.30 lakh, while the 51.4 kWh Excellence (HC) tops the range at ₹24.40 lakh. Compared to Creta Electric variants launched earlier this year, these new trims reflect a price increase, mainly due to added premium features such as Hyundai SmartSense Level 2 ADAS, wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dashcams, and rear wireless chargers.
When evaluated against competitors in the Indian electric SUV market, the Creta Electric sits in the mid-to-high price bracket. The base-spec Tata Curvv EV starts lower at around ₹17.49 lakh, making it the most affordable in this segment. The MG ZS EV begins at close to ₹18.98 lakh, and the Mahindra BE 6 ranges between ₹18.90 lakh and ₹26.90 lakh, positioning the Creta Electric competitively, but not as the most affordable option.
At the top end, the feature-packed Creta Electric Excellence variant is priced a bit higher than rivals' top trims but justifies this with its extended range and advanced technology. While the overall price premium may be a concern for budget-conscious buyers, Hyundai’s expanded offering aims at customers seeking a blend of advanced features, improved range, and the reliability of a well-established brand. Additionally, new Matte Black and Shadow Grey colour options add to the model's appeal.
The refreshed Creta Electric lineup offers enhanced choices for Indian buyers ready to invest around ₹18 lakh to ₹24 lakh in a premium electric SUV. Its pricing strategy places it competitively below some rivals but above others, reflecting the value added by new technology and features while expanding Hyundai's footprint in India's growing EV market.
This launch comes at a time when electric SUVs under ₹25 lakh are getting more attention, with manufacturers offering diverse features and battery capacities to meet varying customer expectations in India’s EV segment.
