Hyundai Motor Group has chosen Nvidia’s Omniverse platform to create simulated environments to test autonomous driving systems, and the two companies will partner to develop accelerated computing, AI, and robotics solutions.
The two companies announced this partnership at the ongoing CES technology trade show in Las Vegas. The technology stack will be applied to developing Hyundai’s software-defined vehicle stack as well as autonomous driving, smart factory operations, product design, and prototyping. In a press statement, Hyundai and Nvidia said the partnership will improve safety and efficiency in engineering processes, and speed up time to market, as well as help improving production quality and optimising costs.
Leveraging generative and physical AI technology across Hyundai’s operations will require using Nvidia’s datacentre infrastructure to handle huge amounts of data and build advanced AI models. Hyundai will also develop digital twins using Nvidia’s Omniverse technology, and AI-powered industrial robots using Nvidia’s Isaac simulation framework. Another focus of the agreement is the creation of simulated environments to test autonomous driving and robot technology safely in various weather and traffic conditions as well as other potentially dangerous situations.

The companies also stated that further announcements will be made in the near future, which suggests that additional agreements are being negotiated or further joint efforts might emerge from the results of the newly announced partnership.
Hyundai Motor Group says it is working to position itself as a leader in the AI era, by developing new smart mobility solutions. The agreement was signed by Hyundai’s Executive Vice President and Head of Global Strategy Office at Hyundai Motor Group Heung-Soo Kim and Nvidia’s Vice President of Automotive, Rishi Dhall.
