Hyundai Motor India Limited (HMIL) announced today that it registered its highest-ever domestic sales in January 2024. The Indian arm of the Korean automaker retailed a total of 57,115 units of passenger vehicles in the domestic market. With this performance, HMIL has now registered 14 per cent year-on-year growth with 50,106 units sold on our shores. However, the marque’s export number depreciated by 13.7 per cent for Hyundai had exported only 10,500 units last month, compared to 12,170 units it sold the last year in the same month.
Its overall sales, including both domestic and export numbers, was at 67,615 units in the first month of 2024 which is a 8.5 per cent growth.
Hyundai’s SUVs have been adjourned as the reason behind the company’s spike in sales. “This strong growth has been fuelled by an overwhelming customer response to the newly launched Hyundai CRETA, which has already garnered close to 50,000 bookings within a month of the booking open announcement,” reasoned Tarun Garg, COO, Hyundai Motor India Pvt. Ltd.
The new Creta facelift has undergone through some thorough updates. Aside from looking significantly different from before, the interior also sees a complete redesign with a new dashboard that now houses a new dual-screen setup for both the infotainment and instrument console. Coupled with the option of seven broad variants, and three engine variants with transmission gearbox options - there's at least one Hyundai Creta for everyone.
“Our entry (level) SUV EXTER continues its amazing run in the market clocking great sales numbers as well as winning prestigious auto awards in the country,” Garg further added. The Exter SUV competes against the popular Tata Punch. With an aggressive price range, and more premium design and appeal, Hyundai's new micro SUV eats into Tata sales by being an equally popular choice.
To continue this momentum, Hyundai will be further strengthening its SUV portfolio. As part of that plan, the Creta N-Line is slated for launch, and spy shots of the upcoming SUV have already been spotted.
