The Ioniq 5 was launched in January 2023 and achieved this feat in just 11 months.
Nearly a year since it was launched in January at the Auto Expo 2023, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 has achieved a significant sales milestone. The South Korean manufacturer has sold over 1,000 units of the all-electric SUV in the country.
The Ioniq 5 was launched at an introductory price of ₹44.95 lakh (ex-showroom) and with a price hike, it currently costs ₹45.95 lakh (ex-showroom). Unlike its cousin and chief rival, the Kia EV6, the Ioniq 5 is brought to India as a completely knocked down (CKD) unit and that helps bring costs down. For reference, prices for the EV6 start at ₹60.95 lakh (ex-showroom), which is ₹15 lakh more than Hyundai’s flagship product in India. The EV6 is available in two variants - GT Line RWD and GT Line AWD - and they are priced at ₹60.95 lakh and ₹65.95 lakh (ex-showroom), respectively.

Hyundai only offers the Ioniq 5 with a single, top-spec RWD variant. It gets a 72.6 kWh battery that is good for an ARAI-certified range of up to 631 km on a full charge. Hyundai claims the Ioniq 5 can be charged from 10 to 80 per cent in 18 minutes using a 350 kW DC fast charger. Using a standard 11 kW charger, it can be fully charged in almost 7 hours. Its single permanent magnet synchronous motor produces 215 bhp and 350 Nm. Hyundai claims the Ioniq 5 can do 0-100 kmph in 7.6 seconds.

The Ioniq 5 gets two 12.3-inch displays for the infotainment and the instrument cluster. It also gets powered seats, dual-zone climate control, a Bose sound system, a panoramic sunroof, wireless charging and Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) charging. For safety, it gets six airbags, ESC, parking sensors, 360-degree cameras and ADAS.
