The Hyundai Exter will rival the likes of the Tata Punch and the Citroen C3
Hyundai has been dropping teasers of its new SUV, but now we get to know the name of the car. It is to be called ‘Exter’ and only the silhouette of the SUV has been teased. Of course, it’s a micro-SUV and will rival the likes of the Tata Punch, which has received tremendous success in recent times. The Exter will be Hyundai’s second subcompact SUV in India (the first being Venue).
The Exter will be a petrol only model, given the segment it is targeted at, but expect it to be available with a number of gearbox options and it’ll also be big on features. The Exter is likely to come with the 1.2-litre petrol engine, pumping out 82 bhp and we do not expect it to get a turbo engine, however, Hyundai could throw in that as a surprise.
The Exter is being positioned as a car that you can drive into the wilderness, so we’ll need to see what exactly Hyundai means by that, but clearly the target audience is Gen Z who loves to travel and seek new places.
Tarun Garg, COO, Hyundai Motor India Ltd., said, “The Hyundai Exter is the 8th model in our line up with a SUV body style and we are confident that this new member to our family will provide further fillip to our growth in SUV sales”
