The Jetour T2 SUV is expected to be JSW Motors’ first product in India and it could launch around Diwali 2026.
The Jetour T2, developed by China’s Chery Automobile, has secured a five-star safety rating in crash tests conducted by ASEAN NCAP.
This SUV is widely expected to form the basis of the first model from JSW Motors in India. In fact, the company has already filed a design patent in the country and teased a silhouette that closely resembles the T2’s styling. While the India-bound version will feature JSW branding and a new name, the model is likely to arrive around Diwali 2026 as the inaugural product from the JSW-Chery collaboration, separate from MG Motor India.
Coming back to the crash test, in the adult occupant protection category, the Jetour T2 scored 29.74 out of a possible 32 points. The SUV received 13.74 out of 16 points in the frontal impact test and achieved a full 8 out of 8 in the side impact evaluation. It also earned maximum marks for its head protection technology.
Results from the frontal offset crash test indicated that the passenger compartment remained stable during impact. Dummy readings showed adequate chest protection for the driver, although protection for the driver’s left leg was rated as marginal. The head protection system’s performance was further validated through additional deployment tests and the Fitment Rating System.
For child occupant safety, the Jetour T2 recorded 40.63 out of 51 points. This included 15.62 out of 16 in frontal impact tests and a full 8 out of 8 in side impact assessments. The vehicle scored 9.02 out of 12 points for child seat installation compatibility, while vehicle-based safety features contributed 7 out of 13 points. In the Child Presence Detection category, the SUV received 1 out of 2 points, indicating partial effectiveness of the system.
The SUV is equipped with six airbags, electronic stability control, anti-lock braking system, rear occupant detection, ISOFIX child seat mounts and seatbelt reminders for all passengers.
Optional advanced driver assistance systems include lane departure warning, forward collision warning, lane keep assist, automatic high beam and autonomous emergency braking for pedestrians and motorcycles.
