India has opened its first dedicated testing facility for Advanced Driver Assistance Systems at a 20-acre site in Takwe, near Talegaon in Pune. The Automotive Research Association of India announced the facility's readiness during a press conference on September 3, 2025.
The ADAS Test City replicates Indian road networks in a controlled environment, allowing car manufacturers to test safety technologies under conditions that mirror real-world Indian driving scenarios. The facility operates as a pseudo city designed specifically for validating ADAS features in safer, repeatable conditions.
ARAI will showcase the facility during The ADAS Show on 12th December 2025, organised by Aayera. The event will feature live demonstrations of testing equipment and invite major car manufacturers, component suppliers, and technology companies to trial their systems at the proving ground. The facility received support from the Ministry of Heavy Industries through its Capital Goods Scheme, which funded the modular infrastructure for ADAS verification and validation systems.
Visitors to December's show will see demonstrations of various ADAS technologies, including Adaptive Cruise Control, Blind Spot Detection, Automatic Parking Systems, Lane Departure Warning, Automatic Emergency Braking, Adaptive Front Lights, Traffic Sign Recognition, Forward Collision Warning, Driver Monitoring Systems, Night Vision, Pedestrian Detection, and Traffic Jam Assistance. The facility aims to support both established manufacturers and startup companies developing ADAS and autonomous vehicle technologies in India.
"Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS) are pivotal in enhancing road safety, and ARAI remains committed to driving the adoption of safe, smart, and sustainable mobility solutions across industry. Our upcoming ADAS Smart City Track represents a landmark initiative—India's first dedicated proving ground designed to enable automotive and auto-tech manufacturers to rigorously test and validate their technologies in real-world conditions," said Reji Mathai, Director at ARAI.
Syed Fareed Ahmed, Director at Aayera, said, "THE ADAS SHOW is India's definitive platform where automotive leaders, technologists, and innovators converge to showcase and discuss the most advanced driver-assistance and safety technologies."
