India-Specific Triumph 350 cc Motorcycles To Be Launched In April

Ever since the new GST laws for two-wheelers came into effect, there were rumours that Bajaj Auto has started downsizing a few engines to ensure that it falls under the lesser tax regime. The above development was confirmed by the brand in December and now we have an official timeline for the launch of the new sub-350 cc motorcycles. In an interaction, Rajiv Bajaj, Managing Director of Bajaj Auto, confirmed that the Triumph 350 cc motorcycle range is ready and will be going on sale in April, 2026.

The drop in displacement is due to the new GST tax revision for bikes above 350 cc which attract 40 per cent as compared to the earlier 28 per cent. The bump in tax had an effect on the pricing of the Triumph motorcycles and while Bajaj Auto has been absorbing the tax hike, it was never a sustainable solution. The Triumph 350 cc motorcycles will be a India-specific model and the export models will continue to feature the larger 398 cc engine. In its current tune, the powerplant delivers 39.5 bhp and 37.5 Nm. With the reduction in capacity, one can expect a drop of around 7-10 per cent in the above output. 

The current Triumph 400 cc range is priced between ₹1.95 lakh and ₹2.97 lakh (ex-showroom) and it will be interesting to see whether the same prices are maintained or will there be any slight reduction in the asking price. We expect the Triumph Speed 350 and Triumph Thruxton 350 to be launched first and the Scrambler series to follow later. Another question remains whether Bajaj Auto will continue to offer the Triumph 400 series at a higher price point or discontinue them, we shall get our answers in April, 2026.
