Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML), the EV arm of Greaves Cotton Limited, has entered into Nepal with the launch of its flagship electric scooter, the Ampere Nexus. With this announcement, Nepal becomes the first international market for the Indian EV brand. According to Ampere, Nepal is among the most demanding and challenging markets for any electric two-wheeler owing to its terrain and landscape. The company believes that the Ampere Nexus fits that requirement, positioning it as a premium electric scooter which can handle urban commutes and steep inclines that the country has on offer. Greaves Electric Mobility Limited (GEML) has signed a partnership with STC Auto Solution Private Limited to handle its Nepal operations.
Speaking on the development, Mr. Vikas Singh, MD and Chief Financial Officer, Greaves Electric Mobility, said, “Nepal presents a unique mobility landscape with steep-rugged terrains, and intensive daily usage. Higher altitudes and a growing EV infrastructure in the country naturally draws demand for safer BMS, stronger built quality, and products that outlast. For Nepal, premium scooters are not just luxury – but scooters that are engineered specifically for durability, comfort, and range confidence. The Ampere Nexus has been engineered to address these realities. With this, GEM also looks forward to supporting Nepal’s push for clean mobility.”
The Ampere Nexus has already proven its capabilities as it was recognised by the Asia Book of Records for conquering the 70 hairpin bends of Kolli Hills in Tamil Nadu and also successfully climbed Shipki La Pass at an altitude of 13,200 feet. One of the key highlights of the Ampere Nexus is that it employs Lithium Iron Phosphate (LFP) battery, which offers you better range and is safer too compared to NMC chemistry.
Powering the Ampere Nexus is a 3 kWh lithium phosphate battery which is paired with a 3.3 kW mid-mounted electric motor. The electric scooter generates a peak output of 4 kW, enabling it to reach a top speed of 93 kmph. According to Ampere, the Nexus offers a claimed range of 136 km on a single charge under IDC testing conditions. In everyday riding situations, however, the real-world range is likely to be closer to 110–115 km. The company also says the battery can be fully charged in 3.3 hours when plugged into a standard 15A socket. The Ampere Nexus range in India starts at ₹1.20 lakh (ex-showroom) in our country.
