Indian Navy And TVS Launch ‘Fleet To Forts’ Motorcycle Expedition In Maharashtra

The Indian Navy and TVS Motor Company have joined hands to launch the ‘Fleet to Forts’ Motorcycle Expedition, which is a 14-day ride across Maharashtra that will cover more than 1,600 km on TVS Ronin motorcycles. The expedition was flagged off on Tuesday from Navynagar in Mumbai.

A 25-member naval contingent will travel to 10 historic forts associated with Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj, including sites that form part of the ‘Maratha Military Landscapes of India’ inscription on the UNESCO World Heritage List.

The includes women officers, women Agniveers and members of the wider naval community and the ride is being led by Capt Shekhar Deshpande and brings together officers, sailors and Agniveers from the Indian Navy. 

Ride To Cover 1,600 Km

The route has been designed around Maharashtra's historic forts and coastal landscapes, giving the naval personnel an opportunity to connect the journey with India's maritime and military heritage.

Beyond the motorcycle ride itself, the expedition has a youth engagement component. 

The Indian Navy and TVS aim to use the initiative to reach young Indians and create awareness about career opportunities in the Navy, including pathways available through the Agnipath Scheme.

The selection of forts associated with the Maratha military tradition also places the expedition within a broader historical context, particularly as several of these sites have recently received international recognition through their inclusion in the UNESCO World Heritage List.

Expedition Links Maritime Heritage With Youth Engagement

The expedition combines a long-distance motorcycle ride with outreach around the Navy's role and career opportunities. Participants will travel through different parts of Maharashtra, using the state's historic fort network and coastal terrain as the backdrop for the journey.

For TVS Motor, the event continues its association with the Indian Navy and provides a platform for the TVS Ronin, its motorcycle positioned around a more lifestyle-oriented riding proposition.
