Hisashi Takeuchi stressed the importance of the local manufacturing of semi-conductor chips.
At the 64th Annual Session of the Automotive Component Manufacturers Association (ACMA), Maruti Suzuki's MD and CEO, Hisashi Takeuchi, presented a comprehensive plan for India's automotive sector. Takeuchi emphasised the industry's need to evolve and compete globally, highlighting India's current position in auto component exports.

Takeuchi pointed out that while India exported auto components worth $20 billion last year, this represents less than 2 per cent of global auto industry trade. The Maruti Suzuki CEO focused on several key areas for development. He stressed the importance of offering advanced technology at affordable prices, urging the industry to innovate and collaborate to meet this challenge. Takeuchi also highlighted the critical need for local semiconductor manufacturing, encouraging early engagement between electronics manufacturers and domestic semiconductor producers.

Digitalisation and automation were identified as essential for maintaining competitiveness. Takeuchi advocated for the adoption of technologies like IoT and real-time tracking to revolutionise manufacturing processes. He also emphasised the importance of workforce development, calling for partnerships between industry and academia to equip workers with skills in new technologies.
