If you’ve not heard of Invanti before, we don’t blame you. Neither did we, but until now. For Invanti is a Chinese manufacturer in the e-bike mobility space. It recently unveiled the Tornado, a multi-utility cargo e-bike which has been heralded as the “Swiss Army Knife of Electric Two-wheelers.” So, what makes it so? Moreover, will it arrive in India? Let’s get down to the details of it all
Powering the Tornado is a fixed 48-volt 14.7 Ah battery with Samsung cells that is good for 96 km of range on pedal assist, and 40 km of range on throttle only. Additionally, it also gets a detachable 48-volt 10.4 Ah battery as an accessory that gets you 160 km and 70 km of additional range on the pedal and throttle assist, respectively. Either way, power is sent to a 750W hub motor mounted on the rear wheel. With a peak power of 1000W, the motor can catapult the Invanti Tornado up to 40 kmph of top speed.
The cargo e-bike is equipped with a 7-speed transmission sourced from Shimano and hydraulic disc brakes on both 20-inch wheels. For smoother operations, the Tornado also comes with torque sensors.
Feature-wise, it gets front and rear lights, and the latter gets turn lights integrated into it. Critical information like speed, battery charge, range, etc are displayed on a small full-digital instrument cluster which also supports app-based connectivity. This further gets you app-controlled battery cut-off, notifications and reminders, GPS-integrated bike tracking, route tracking, and electronic fence as well. Furthermore, Invanti has developed a niche front hub lock, which again can be controlled via the app.
But performance and features are just the tip of the iceberg here. Invanti is offering the Tornado with tons of accessories which help the e-cargo bike double up as more than just a two-wheeler. From various types of racks like front, rear, and rear storage, there’s also a big passenger footrest, child safety handrail and a suspension seat post – all of which are available as accessories.
Sadly, the Invanti Tornado will not be making its way to India anytime soon. The company does sell in the global markets, however, in India, it has no presence. We can’t even say for sure if it will arrive in the future or not. As of now, we will just have to settle for the images of this cargo e-bike as it is sold abroad.
