iPhone 15 Pro Models Boast Increased RAM & New Charging Features

Apple has traditionally been tight-lipped about the RAM specifications of its iPhones since their debut in 2007. However, tech enthusiasts have always found ways to uncover these details. Generally speaking, Apple's ARM-based chipsets have offered less RAM compared to their Android counterparts. For context, flagship Android phones in 2023 can feature up to 16GB of RAM, and with RAM-boosting technology, this can extend to 24GB. Most high-end Android models start at 8GB and max out at 12GB. So, where does this place the iPhone? Last year's iPhone 14 Pro series came with 6GB of RAM, but this year, the iPhone 15 Pro models appear to offer a more generous 8GB.

This revelation comes courtesy of the Xcode 15 release candidate. The standard iPhone 15 models were anticipated to feature 6GB of RAM. It seems that Apple's A17 Pro chip could have an integrated 8GB of RAM, compared to the A16 Bionic's 6GB.

New Charging Capabilities

Another noteworthy addition to the iPhone 15 Pro models is the inclusion of USB Type-C, which may allow users to set a maximum charge level manually. This feature aims to extend the device's battery lifespan and is distinct from the 'optimised battery charging' found on some Android phones, which limits the charge to 80%.
