The Meridian facelift is likely to get ADAS tech as well as a slightly tweaked design.
Jeep India is working on a facelift of the Meridian and it has now been spotted testing. While the test mule is heavily camouflaged, it does hint at an important feature the Meridian will get with the facelift. Expect the Meridian facelift to debut later this year.
On the outside, expect the Jeep Meridian facelift to get a slightly revised design. The spy shots show the Meridian will get a tweaked grille and a slightly different front bumper with new silver accents. The spy shots also show the presence of a radar module in the lower part of the front bumper, hinting that the three-row SUV is likely to get ADAS. The Meridian will be the third Jeep model in India to get this safety tech. Expect the Meridian facelift to also get a new design for the alloy wheels, refreshed taillamps, redesigned rear bumper as well as some new colour options with the facelift.
At first glance, the spy shot of the interior shows that not much has changed. It continues to get the same freestanding infotainment touchscreen, a digital instrument cluster and the same raised centre console. However, it is likely to get a new theme for the cabin and a revised panel for the HVAC controls. It could also get new features like a dashcam and rear window blinds.
Mechanically, the Meridian isn’t expected to change much. It is likely to continue with the same 2.0-litre diesel engine producing 168 bhp and 350 Nm mated to either a 6-speed manual or a 9-speed automatic gearbox. Expect the facelift to get a four-wheel drive system with the automatic gearbox only.
As for the competition, the Meridian facelift will continue to rival the Toyota Fortuner (₹35.93 lakh-51.44 lakh), MG Gloster (₹38.80 - 43.15 lakh) and the Skoda Kodiaq (₹39.99 lakh). Currently, the Meridian is priced between ₹33.73 - 39.83 lakh and expect the facelift to be slightly expensive. (All prices ex-showroom, India)
