Under the hood—or floor—Jeep will offer the Compass with mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and fully electric powertrains.

Jeep has officially unveiled the third-generation Compass, with initial deliveries planned for Europe in the fourth quarter of 2025. Despite its familiar silhouette, the new Compass is a ground-up overhaul. It transitions from legacy Fiat-Chrysler underpinnings to Stellantis’ modern STLA Medium platform, already in use by the Peugeot 3008/5008, Opel Grandland, and Citroën C5 Aircross. Measuring 4549 mm in length—155 mm longer than its predecessor—the updated Compass moves into a slightly larger footprint, placing it above smaller Stellantis siblings like the Renegade and Avenger.

Visually, Jeep retains its signature boxy styling, steering clear of the increasingly rounded aesthetic common among modern crossovers. A revised take on the brand’s iconic seven-slot grille, now flanked by flatter LED headlights, pairs with a horizontal light bar and Jeep-branded taillights at the rear. Squared-off wheel arches, plastic body cladding, and available two-tone paint with black roofs help maintain the rugged design language. Higher trims will offer matrix LED headlamps and 20-inch alloy wheels, though off-road variants will likely benefit from smaller wheels for improved capability.

True to its heritage, the Compass doesn’t abandon its off-road credentials. Four-wheel-drive models feature 201 mm of ground clearance, with approach, breakover, and departure angles rated at 20, 15, and 26 degrees respectively. Jeep also claims a water fording depth of up to 470 mm and standard hill descent control for 4x4 variants.

Unlike some rivals that have fully embraced touch-only interfaces, Jeep retains physical controls beneath the screen for core functions.

Inside, the overhaul is more apparent. A 16-inch central touchscreen dominates the dashboard, joined by a 10-inch fully digital instrument cluster. Unlike some rivals that have fully embraced touch-only interfaces, Jeep retains physical controls beneath the screen for core functions. The cabin also incorporates a rotary gear selector and traditional switches for features like the Selec-Terrain drive mode system and electronic parking brake.

Interior space improves modestly, with an additional 56 mm of rear legroom and expanded cabin storage totalling 45-litre. Boot capacity behind the split-fold rear seats rises to 549 litres, though no frunk is offered, even in EV versions.

Jeep has also opened orders for the new Compass in Europe, starting with a limited-run “First Edition.”

Under the hood—or floor—Jeep will offer the Compass with mild-hybrid, plug-in hybrid (PHEV), and fully electric powertrains, all aimed at European buyers. The base model will feature a 143 bhp 48-volt mild-hybrid petrol engine, while the PHEV will offer 192 bhp. Three electric variants will follow: a front-wheel-drive EV with 210 bhp and a 74 kWh battery (range rated at 500 km WLTP), and a range-topping AWD version with 370 bhp and an estimated 650 km of WLTP range. The dual-motor AWD setup includes a bespoke Jeep-developed rear motor capable of propelling the car up a 20-per cent incline even with no traction at the front wheels. The EV versions feature a flat underbody, aero-optimised wheels, and active grille shutters. Using a 160 kW DC fast charger, the battery can be replenished from 20 per cent to 80 per cent in approximately 30 minutes.

Jeep has opened orders for the new Compass in Europe, starting with a limited-run “First Edition.” Production will take place at the Melfi plant in Italy. Notably, Stellantis has chosen not to offer any diesel variants, effectively phasing out a powertrain that once held a majority share in the European compact SUV segment. As for the Indian market, Jeep has yet to confirm a release date. If it does, expect it to only come to us by late 2026 or early 2027.
