JSW Motors will assemble the Jetour T2 at its upcoming Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar (formerly Aurangabad) plant in Maharashtra.
Last year, JSW Group announced that it will be entering the Indian automotive industry as an independent entity and formed a new subsidiary named JSW Motors. Recently, JSW teased its first passenger vehicle for the Indian market. Based on the Jetour T2 hybrid SUV on sale in China, the design of this vehicle has now been patented in India.
The patent application was filed by Chery Automobile, the parent company of Jetour T2, on December 18, 2025 and approved by the Controller General of Patents, Designs and Trademark on February 27, 2026. Expected to launch around Diwali later this year, JSW Motors has reportedly commenced dealer recruitment.
The design seen in the patents appears to be in line with the teaser released last week. The patents reveal a boxy, rugged profile similar to the likes of Land Rover Defender. Based on the “Rugged Simplicity” design philosophy, the Jetour T2 looks tough and built for challenging terrains.

Up front, the Jetorur T2 gets squared LED headlamps connected to each other via a black strip with six raised square elements. On the international-spec T2, this panel flaunts the ‘JETOUR’ lettering, but the India-bound version is expected to feature the ‘JSW’ branding instead. A honeycomb-pattern grille is also visible, while the chunky bumper houses a single fog lamp and two pairs of pixel-style DRL clusters on each side.
The bonnet has prominent contours and grab handles on both edges. Along the profile, the design patent shows door-mounted ORVMs, which is notable since the vehicle in the teaser had mirrors mounted on the A-pillars. The roof rails also show slightly different gap placements compared to the global-spec T2.

Otherwise, most elements including the alloy wheels, flared wheel-arch cladding and window line appear unchanged. At the rear, the SUV features vertically stacked tail lamps, T2 badging, a flat tailgate and a chunky bumper. The spare wheel is mounted on the tailgate and is fully enclosed within a sturdy protective cover.

Internationally, the Jetour T2 is offered in petrol and plug-in hybrid powertrain options but the India-spec model is most likely to receive the latter only. This version of the SUV comes with a 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine paired with dual front-mounted electric motors. The combustion engine produces 154 bhp and 220 Nm of torque.
Combined with electric motors this electric powertrain develops 221 bhp and 390 Nm. The electric motors derive energy from a 26.7 kWh battery pack that is claimed to deliver a pure electric range of up to 139 km (NEDC cycle). Similar to the international-spec model, the Jetour T2 in India is expected to be offered in both FWD and AWD formats.
