The Portronics Tune Prime is priced at ₹11,999 and is available on Amazon, Flipkart, and the company's own website.
Portronics, the accessories and electronics brand, has announced a new USB adapter for wireless Apple AirPlay and Android Auto. The new Portronics Tune Prime adds wireless smartphone connectivity to cars that do not support it natively, and also gives users the flexibility to use a dedicated SIM for cellular data on the go. It is priced at ₹11,999 and comes with a 6-month warranty and seven-day replacement guarantee.
The device supports its own onboard apps, and a 4G SIM slot allows users to enjoy streaming media, communication, navigation, and more without the need to tether a smartphone. Wi-Fi is also supported, and the unit can act as a hotspot. There’s also Bluetooth and built-in GPS for navigation. The Tune Prime is powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 662 processor with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of internal storage, which can be expanded by up to 512GB using a microSD card. Media files can be stored for offline playback.
Portronics promises simple plug-and-play setup, quick app loading, smartphone screen mirroring, and multitasking. While the company warns that video and gaming apps should not be used while a car is in motion, the Tune Prime does not seem to have any way to prevent such behaviour automatically. Voice control is available, triggered by a button on the car’s infotainment screen.
The Tune Prime requires an iPhone 13 or newer running iOS 15 or later, or any Android smartphone running Android 12 or later. The unit is available in black, with a multicolour LED light ring on its top. It comes with USB Type-A and Type-C cables.
