Servotech has been commissioned by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) to develop and implement a comprehensive EV charging solution.
Kempegowda International Airport is set to become home to India's most extensive electric vehicle (EV) charging facility designed specifically for airside operations, following a major contract award to Servotech Renewable Power System Limited, reported ET Auto.
The renewable energy company has been commissioned by Bengaluru International Airport Limited (BIAL) to develop and implement a comprehensive EV charging solution that will transform ground transportation operations at one of the country's busiest aviation hubs.

The ambitious project centres around a high-capacity charging hub featuring ten state-of-the-art direct current chargers. Each charging unit delivers an impressive 240 kW of power, creating a combined installation capacity of 2.4 megawatts across the entire facility.
This charging infrastructure represents a historic milestone for Indian aviation, marking the debut of large-scale EV support systems specifically engineered for airport airside environments. The installation will primarily serve the airport's fleet of electric buses that provide essential transportation services between passenger terminals and aircraft parking areas.
The scope of Servotech's involvement extends well beyond initial installation. The company has committed to a comprehensive service package that encompasses the complete lifecycle of the charging infrastructure. This includes equipment procurement, professional installation, rigorous testing protocols, system commissioning, and ongoing maintenance services spanning a five-year operational period.
The charging station deployment aligns directly with broader environmental objectives aimed at significantly reducing transportation-related carbon emissions throughout airport operations. By enabling continuous electric vehicle operations for critical airside transport functions, the facility supports both operational efficiency and ecological responsibility.
The electrification initiative represents a strategic component of the airport's comprehensive sustainability framework, targeting measurable reductions in greenhouse gas emissions while maintaining seamless passenger and cargo operations.
"We are thrilled to work with Bengaluru International Airport in its mission to drive sustainable change. This project is more than just an infrastructure milestone, it's a step toward transforming urban transport at one of India's busiest airports allowing us to electrify the airport and play a vital role in reducing its carbon emissions with our advanced EV charging technology and infrastructure." Sarika Bhatia, Director, Servotech Renewable Power System, was quoted as saying by ET Auto.
The Kempegowda International Airport project establishes new benchmarks for sustainable aviation infrastructure development across India. As airports nationwide evaluate electrification strategies, this installation becomes a comprehensive model for integrating high-capacity EV charging systems into complex operational environments.
