The Kia EV4 is scheduled to go on sale in the Korean market in March 2025, the PV5 in the second half of this year, and the Concept EV2 will go on sale in 2026.
At the Kia EV Day 2025, the South Korean automaker unveiled its latest lineup of electric vehicles, introducing the production version of the Kia EV4, the Kia PV5 (its first Platform Beyond Vehicle, or PBV), and the all-new Concept EV2. These new models mark a significant expansion of Kia's electric vehicle offerings, emphasising innovation, design, and modular electric platforms.
The production version of the Kia EV4, a hatchback, features a design reminiscent of the Kia EV6. The vehicle is characterised by vertically stacked LED headlights, a sharp front fascia, and thick black cladding on the sides. A sunroof adds to its premium appeal, while the rear incorporates a large black spoiler and newly designed taillights.
Staying true to the concept first revealed in 2023, the production EV4 retains its sharply angled nose, sloping roofline, and prominent shoulder lines. Notable exterior updates include a revised front grille with radar integration, new 19-inch alloy wheels, chunkier wing mirrors, and flush-type door handles. The dimensions suggest it may exceed the Kia Seltos' length of 4,365 mm.
Built on Kia’s dedicated 400V Electric Global Modular Platform (E-GMP), the EV4 is available with two battery options: a standard 58.3 kWh battery and a long-range 81.4 kWh battery. Both configurations power a 201 bhp front-mounted motor, achieving 0-100 km/h in 7.4 and 7.7 seconds, respectively. The top speed is capped at 170 km/h for both variants.
Production of the Kia EV4 sedan will take place at Kia’s Autoland Gwangmyeong EVO Plant in Korea, while the hatchback variant will be manufactured exclusively in Slovakia, primarily for the European market. Production is set to commence in mid-March 2025 for the Korean sedan model, with the European hatchback following in the latter half of the year. North American production and sales are scheduled for a later date. The EV4 will be available for purchase in Korea starting in March, with a European launch in the second half of the year, followed by sales in the United States.
The Kia PV5, a production-ready electric van, debuts as the brand’s first vehicle under its new PBV (Platform Beyond Vehicle) strategy. Originally presented as a concept at the 2024 Consumer Electronics Show (CES), it is now entering production. The PV5 is available in both passenger and cargo configurations, with design elements that cater to their respective functionalities.
The passenger variant features a clean, modern aesthetic, a geometric profile, and a large window area framed by black graphic glass surrounds. Rugged design elements, such as black wheel arch claddings and rocker panels, establish a visual connection to Kia’s SUV lineup. The cargo version maintains a similar modern and geometric appearance but adopts a boxier profile for enhanced space efficiency. It features two side-opening tailgate doors to facilitate loading and unloading.
All PV5 models are powered by a front-mounted 161 bhp motor producing 250 Nm of torque. Battery options include 51.5 kWh and 71.2 kWh NCM batteries, with an additional 43.3 kWh LFP battery exclusively for the PV5 Cargo. The vehicle integrates a ‘cell-to-pack’ battery system, eliminating traditional modules and improving energy efficiency. When equipped with the 71.2 kWh battery, the PV5 Passenger variant can achieve a range of up to 400 km. Fast charging allows a 10% to 80% recharge in approximately 30 minutes.
Sales of the PV5 will begin in Korea and Europe in the latter half of 2025, with additional market launches planned for 2026. Conversion models will enter production between 2025 and 2026, while pre-orders are expected to open in the first half of 2025 for Korean and European buyers.
Kia also introduced the Concept EV2, a subcompact all-electric SUV showcasing the company’s vision for the future. The design includes distinctive dual claw-like headlights and vertical taillights positioned towards the vehicle’s edges. In concept form, the EV2 features rear-hinged doors and a pillarless design for easier entry and exit. However, the production version, expected in 2026, is likely to adopt a more conventional layout with traditional door handles and B-pillars.
Inside, the Concept EV2 embraces minimalism, featuring a streamlined dashboard. However, Kia is expected to incorporate more physical controls in the production model, as seen in other recent vehicles from the brand. The dual-screen setup has become a staple in Kia’s lineup, while the single-spoke, octagonal steering wheel enhances driver visibility of the instrument cluster.
The Kia EV2 is set to launch in Europe and other markets in 2026, broadening Kia’s electric vehicle portfolio with a focus on accessibility and efficiency.
