Kia India is gearing up to launch its second all-electric model, the EV9. Ahead of its launch, the EV9 has now been spotted testing in India nearly undisguised, hinting that it may launch sometime soon.

The spy shots show the EV9 is finished in a shade of black, but it will likely come with more colour options. The test mule shows the design of the Indian-spec EV9 isn’t much different from the international model and that is because the EV9 will be brought to India as a completely built unit (CBU) initially.

The EV9 comes with vertically stacked LED headlamps, L-shaped LED DRLs and a closed-off grille. It also has a chrome trim running across the width that looks like it could be a light bar. In profile, the test mule’s alloy wheels have a triangular design in a dual-tone finish which looks nice. At the back as well, the test mule looks similar to the international-spec model.

Inside, the India-spec model remains largely unchanged compared to the global model. It gets the same four-spoke steering wheel, two 12.3-inch screens and an all-black interior theme. The EV9 also gets an ADAS suite, V2L and V2G functionality, multi-zone climate control, connected car tech and more.

The EV9 gets a choice of two battery packs – a 76.1 kWh and a 99.8 kWh – and has up to 541 km of claimed range on a single charge. The smaller battery pack only gets a rear-wheel drive configuration, while the larger battery pack also gets the choice of an all-wheel drive configuration. The dual-motor, all-wheel drive setup produces 380 bhp and 600 Nm, while the single-motor, all-wheel drive setup produces 215 bhp and 350 Nm.
