Kia is all set to globally unveil its much-anticipated Syros SUV tomorrow, December 19, marking a new addition to its growing SUV lineup. Positioned between the Sonet and Seltos, official specifications are yet to be revealed, but early teasers and pricing hints suggest the Syros will be a strong contender.
The Syros is likely to be priced around ₹9 lakh (ex-showroom), neatly slotting between the Sonet, which starts at ₹7.99 lakh, and the Seltos, which begins at ₹10.90 lakh. Although it won’t have a direct rival in India, the Syros could serve as an alternative to the Maruti Suzuki Grand Vitara, Hyundai Creta, Tata Nexon, and Hyundai Venue, as well as the Maruti Suzuki Brezza, to name a few.

The design of the Syros, as revealed through teasers, takes on a boxy and bold aesthetic that distinguishes it from other vehicles in the segment. The SUV features vertically stacked 3-pod LED headlights and LED daytime running lights (DRLs), giving it a modern and aggressive front profile. A flat roofline, large windows, and roof rails emphasise its spacious and practical nature, while a distinctive kink in the window beltline near the C-pillar adds character. Other highlights include flared wheel arches, bold silver door cladding, and sleek L-shaped LED taillights. Kia’s decision to incorporate flush door handles further enhances the Syros’ premium and clean look.
The Syros is expected to offer a cabin that prioritises space and comfort, particularly in the rear seats. Reports suggest the rear seats will feature a segment-first reclining function, further elevating passenger comfort on long journeys. Rear-seat space is also expected to surpass both the Sonet and Seltos, making the Syros an attractive option for families. Additional highlights include a large touchscreen display and a panoramic sunroof.

On the safety front, Kia seems to have left no stone unturned. The Syros is expected to come equipped with 6 airbags as standard, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ISOFIX child seat anchorages, and a reversing camera. Moreover, Syros is likely to offer Level 2 Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS), which include features like Automatic Emergency Braking and Lane Keep Assist.
Under the hood, the Kia Syros will likely offer both petrol and diesel engine options. These include a 1.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 118 bhp and 172 Nm of torque, while the 1.5-litre diesel engine will produce 116 bhp and 250 Nm of torque. Transmission options are likely to include a 6-speed manual gearbox and a 7-speed DCT.
