The iconic Kinetic Luna will make a comeback as an electric vehicle.
Kinetic Energy has confirmed that they will bring back the iconic Luna scooter this year albeit with a twist. The new Luna will be an electric scooter and it will be called E-Luna. While the launch of the Kinetic E-Luna is scheduled for February 2024, bookings for the electric scooter will start soon. Kinetic will commence bookings for the E-Luna from January 26 onwards for a token amount of ₹500.
Speaking about the design of the new E-Luna, Sulajja Firodia Motwani, Founder and CEO of Kinetic Green, said, “Luna is designed as a sturdy and durable EV, with the road conditions and driving requirements of consumers not only in metro and Tier 1 towns but for the tier-2, tier-3 cities and rural markets of India.”
Although details available about the upcoming multi-utility electric two-wheeler are scarce. Going by the initial looks of it, the E-Luna will continue with an utilitarian design synonymous with the original moped. “It is designed to provide an efficient alternative to traditional petrol two-wheelers while addressing the evolving preferences of modern consumers,” Sulajja further added.
And if we have to go by history, expect the E-Luna will continue to have a sleek, practical body. It should come equipped with telescopic fork, and dual-shock hydraulic absorbers, and the battery will be designed to be stored under the seat. As for the battery capacity, the E-Luna should have a big enough battery to not just offer good range, but also be able to function under heavy load.
Pricing of the Kinetic E-Luna will be another interesting fact to look forward to. For the Luna was never exorbitantly priced. It was quite an affordable offering which allowed the working class to opt for it over any other scooters. Having said that, given how modern EVs are priced, we’re expecting the E-Luna to retail somewhere between ₹70,000-₹80,000.
