Prices start from ₹78,000 for the single battery trim, while you have to pay ₹34,000 extra for an additional battery
Komaki has launched two new scooters – the Komaki LY and the Komaki SE. Both models have a highlight feature: a dual battery option. The Komaki LY starts at ₹78,000 (ex-showroom) for the single battery variant, while the dual battery variant ups the price to ₹1,13,999 (ex-showroom). The Komaki SE comes in three trims: SE Eco (₹96,968 ex-showroom), SE Sport (₹1,29,938 ex-showroom), and the SE sport performance, the dual battery variant priced at ₹1,28,000 (ex-showroom).
Both of these scooters use a 3kW hub motor. The LY has a top speed of 60 kmph, whereas the SE has a higher top speed of 80 kmph.
The single battery LY offers a range of 80-100 km, while the dual battery variant extends that to 160-200 km. The SE's range varies by trim, with the Eco model offering 75-90 km, the Sport reaching 110-140 km, and the dual battery SE sport performance achieving 150-180 km. Regenerative braking with three modes on both scooters provide the claimed range for different riding styles.
Charging time for each battery remains to be 4 hours for a 0 to 90% charge and 55 mins more for the 100%. This is where the SE shines with a dual charger system where you can plug in 2 batteries simultaneously to charge. This being said, if you are going for the single charger variant the charging time on a dual battery variant is going to be long but not bothersome if you consider an overnight charge where you change the battery in the middle of the night.
Parking Assist, Cruise Control, Reverse Assist remain common on both scooters. What is additional on the SE is Keyless entry and combi-braking as it also gets disc brakes. The SE gets a 20 L boot space while there is no clarity on the LY’s boot capacity.
A dual battery system is offered by some competitors, including the Hero Vida (priced between ₹1,14,030 and ₹1,43,431), the River Indie (₹1,43,431), and the Hero Optima CX (Rs. 1.07 - 1.30 Lakh). Interestingly, this scooter's price range also overlaps with some premium fixed-battery products in the market. For instance, the Bajaj Chetak is available for ₹ 1.15 Lakh, while the Ola S1 starts at a lower price point of ₹ 79,999. The Ather 450S falls in between at ₹. 97,547. This overlap should lead you to consider factors like brand reputation and quality of the product alongside price when making your decision.
