KTM has stated that it does not consider the company a “strategic asset” anymore.
In a significant development for the motorcycle industry, KTM has officially announced its withdrawal from MV Agusta. The news came during a critical meeting with unions at Confindustria Varese yesterday, signalling a major shift for the Italian motorcycle manufacturer.
The Austrian company declared that MV Agusta does not fit as a “strategic asset”, which means the Italian bike manufacturer will return to fully independent management. To that effect, the trade union representatives confirmed that all production operations will be transferred back to the Varese plant by the end of March 2025.
As MV Agusta prepares for a period of transformation, it will sell its current motorcycle stock manufactured in Austria in the early months of 2025. This will be followed by the production of three new motorcycles in mid-March.
Despite this new challenge, MV Agusta says it remains committed to turning a new page. The company's leadership emphasises training and development as key priorities to avoid repeating past financial difficulties. KTM did note that 2025 will be a critical year for MV Agusta, and it will require intensified efforts in production and sales management.
