With the auspicious festival of Holi here celebrating different shades, here’s a reminder of the five most interesting colour options available on cars in India in recent times.
The Indian auto industry is warming up to the idea of livelier colour options on a car. While the white, black, silver, and grey colour options remain the safest bets, buyers aren’t shy of experimenting with bolder colour options, which helps express themselves better. With the auspicious festival of Holi here celebrating different shades, here’s a reminder of the five most interesting colour options available on cars in India in recent times.

The Skoda Octavia RS may have arrived in limited numbers but the automaker certainly knew what to do to ensure more attention than a flash in the pan. The limited-run Octavia was sold in the Hyper Green paint scheme, essentially a neon green shade, which knows how to grab attention. While the latest-generation Octavia RS would be a rare sight on Indian roads, the hyper green paint scheme will certainly ensure you do not miss one when your paths cross.

The Tata Sierra is a handsome SUV and easily has one of the brightest colour palettes available on any made in India car. While the hero colour remains Andaman Adventure (in Tata speak) or yellow, it’s the Munnar Mist shade that holds your attention for longer. The shade duels between green and grey, depending on the lighting, which gives the exterior a unique touch. The Munnar Mist shade makes a statement without being over the top, a quality many will appreciate.

There’s a reason emergency signs are painted red, they demand your attention, and that’s the case with red shade on the Maruti Suzuki Victoris. The SUV gets the Sizzling Red paint scheme, which is a brighter shade of red, helping the rather calm SUV stand out. The Victoris is quite the family-friendly offering, and this colour option adds a bit of pizzazz to the SUV.

Speaking of pizzazz, the Tayron R-Line feels effortless when it needs to command the road but bringing some of that extra charm is the Ultra Violet Metallic paint scheme. The colour option is best enjoyed on a sunny day where it shimmers brightly on the sheet metal of the car, while remaining subdued when the sun is down. Quite like the Tayron R-Line, which juggles between being the practical family mover and a driver’s delight.

The new-generation Kia Seltos has one of the most extensive colour options available, and the one that stands out is Morning Haze. At a time when you have the Dark Editions and even the X-Line to go all “stealth mode”, the Morning Haze feels like the first day of spring - chirpy, bright, and relaxing. It’s not trying to make a statement. Instead, it’s easy on the eye, and has a non-chalant vibe that many-a-young buyers would approve of.
