Lenovo Legion 9i 16-inch ‘AI-Tuned’ Gaming Laptop Launched in India

Lenovo has announced the launch of its powerful Legion 9i laptop in India, which is aimed at gamers and content creators. This is Lenovo’s first 16-inch gaming laptop in India, and the company calls it the “pinnacle of gaming laptop innovation”. In addition to its top-end specs, Lenovo is touting its dedicated “AI engine” chip for performance tuning, a liquid cooling system co-engineered with Cooler Master, and also a “forged carbon chip pattern” lid which gives it a striking look. 

The Legion 9i is priced starting at Rs. 4,49,990 in India and will be available to purchase from Lenovo’s own website and branded stores as well as leading online and offline retailers. The company also offers customisation options exclusively on its own website, and commits to delivering custom orders within 25 days. 

The dedicated LA2 AI processor is said to analyse gaming performance to allow for performance tuning. A machine learning algorithm is used to adjust the laptop’s power distribution based on realtime in-game FPS performance. The AI engine also enables synchronised RGB lighting effects across the laptop’s per-key backlit keyboard and the RGB Legion logo.

Lenovo says its Coldfront liquid cooling system is designed to handle upto 230W of heat, and works in tandem with three fans to cool the CPU, GPU, and VRAM chips. Despite all this, the laptop still weighs only 2.56kg. The carbon lid and recycled magnesium body help keep weight down, and each Legion 9i unit's lid will have a unique carbon chip pattern. 

Key specifications include a 13th Gen Intel Core i9-13980HX CPU, 32GB of DDR5-6400 RAM, up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 4090 GPU, and a 1TB SSD. The display is a 3.2K (3200x2000-pixel) 16:10 165Hz mini-LED panel. You also get a 99.99Wh battery, stereo 2W speakers designed by Harman, a full-HD webcam, and dual mics.

For connectivity, there’s Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.1 plus two Thunderbolt 4 Type-C ports, two USB Type-A 3.2 Gen1 ports, HDMI 2.1 output, an Ethernet port, an SD card slot, and a 3.5mm audio socket. 

You get Windows 11 plus three months of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate access, Lenovo’s game optimisation software, and Tobii Horizon, which allows for head tracking in supported games without needing any extra hardware.
