Lexus is all set to make a bold statement in India by showcasing its futuristic LF-ZC Concept, a next-generation battery-electric vehicle (BEV), at the Bharat Mobility Global Expo 2025 in January. The LF-ZC, short for Lexus Future Zero-Emission Catalyst, introduces a modular gigacasting body design that divides the vehicle into three primary sections—front, centre, and rear. This structure not only enhances manufacturing efficiency but also simplifies battery upgrades, giving the car an edge in adaptability.
Further advancing the concept is Lexus’ revolutionary self-driving assembly line. Unlike traditional conveyor-based manufacturing, the LF-ZC’s autonomous assembly system allows the vehicle to move independently during production, using only its essential components, such as the battery, engine, and tyres.
The LF-ZC aims to double the range of conventional BEVs by leveraging prismatic-structured batteries. These batteries are designed to enhance energy density while reducing weight. Additionally, Lexus is targeting an industry-leading drag coefficient of less than 0.2, placing the LF-ZC among the most aerodynamically efficient vehicles globally.
With dimensions comparable to the Tesla Model 3, the LF-ZC is 4750 mm in length, 1880 mm in width, and 1390 mm in height, with a 2890 mm wheelbase. Its sleek design marries the elegance of a sporty sedan with estate-like practicality, all while adhering to Lexus’ “Provocative Simplicity” design language.
Inside, the LF-ZC offers a spacious cabin with a futuristic aesthetic. A flat floor, panoramic roof, and innovative yoke-style steering wheel underscore its modern appeal. The car features a comprehensive digital cockpit with customisable displays and advanced voice recognition capabilities powered by Lexus’ AI "Butler." Integrated with the new Arene operating system, the AI system adapts to the driver’s preferences, enhancing comfort and convenience.
The LF-ZC incorporates Lexus' steer-by-wire system and Direct4 all-wheel drive, ensuring precise handling and dynamic driving performance. Lexus describes the driving experience as one where the "driver and car become one," promising engaging and exhilarating dynamics.
