Deliveries for the Pack Two will commence from end-July.
After a stellar start to their life, Mahindra has now announced that the Pack Two versions of the XEV 9e and BE 6 will come with the option of either getting the previously committed 59 kWh battery pack, or a larger 79 kWh version, which was introduced initially with just the Pack Three versions. Prices for both are as follows:
| Car | Price (ex-showroom, without charger) |
|---|---|
| BE 6 59 kWh | ₹21.90 lakh |
| BE 6 79 kWh | ₹23.50 lakh |
| XEV 9e 59 kWh | ₹24.90 lakh |
| XEV 9e 79 kWh | ₹26.50 lakh |
Hence, for the larger battery pack, you will end up paying an additional ₹1.60 lakh. Mahindra giving the customers some options here adds to the range of choices, something that was limited earlier to only the top model. It will be interesting to see the car, packs and battery options the buyers prefer to bring home as it wasn't the case earlier.
The larger battery pack will unlock 100 km of extra range and almost 54 more horses on tap. While it does give the buyer extra flexibility depending on their usage needs, the smaller battery pack with its 400 km of real-world range and 228 bhp should be more than enough for most cases. And considering the additional charger costs that you will have to fork out, buying the faster 11.2 kW charger would prove to be better.
Mahindra will commence deliveries of the Pack Two of both cars from the end of the month. Customers who had booked for the Pack Two and were waiting on deliveries will now get the option to stick with their original choice of battery pack or upgrade to the larger unit. Also, Mahindra will now be offering the BE 6 Pack Two with the sage leatherette interior treatment and an ivory roof, which was initially only offered on the BE 6 Pack Three.
With Tata pricing the Harrier EV well, Mahindra’s rejigging of its electric cars was surely on the cards. These Indian electric giants setting the tone right for the Indian electric space. Hopefully, we should see some more action from both soon with Mahindra already announcing its plans for this Independence Day. More details in this story.
