Popular farming machinery has supported over 2,50,000 Indian farmers during its quarter-century run.
Mahindra Tractors is celebrating 25 years of its Arjun tractor range, a milestone that underscores the enduring popularity of one of India's most trusted agricultural machines. Since its debut in 2000, the Arjun series has grown from three horsepower options to a complete lineup of five models, delivering up to 60 HP across both 2WD and 4WD variants. The range caters to everything from general farming tasks to heavy-duty haulage work throughout India.
In recognition of this anniversary, Mahindra is now offering a comprehensive 6-year warranty on all Arjun models - a move that goes beyond typical industry coverage periods.
Throughout its 25-year history, the Arjun range has kept pace with changing regulations and technology. Today's models meet TREM III and TREM IV emission requirements whilst incorporating Mahindra's latest mDI and CRDe 4-cylinder engine systems for improved fuel economy and performance.
The tractors come equipped with constant mesh transmission featuring dual clutch technology, making gear changes easier for operators. Combined with high torque capacity and sophisticated hydraulics, these machines handle demanding work including ground preparation, deep ploughing, sugarcane transport, and crop harvesting.
Company figures show that more than 2,50,000 farmers nationwide have purchased Arjun tractors over the past quarter-century. The machines work across India's varied agricultural landscape, from wheat fields in the north to Maharashtra's cotton farms and southern rice paddies.
Veejay Nakra, President of Farm Equipment Business at Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd., noted the series' broad appeal amongst different farming groups, spanning newcomers to mechanised agriculture through to large commercial operations.
The Arjun range forms part of Mahindra's extensive tractor manufacturing network, which operates across five Indian facilities. The company holds the global record for tractor production by volume, having sold 4 million units worldwide by March 2024.
Sales are handled through Mahindra's dealer network across the country, with Mahindra Finance providing purchase options. The tractors are sold alongside a full range of compatible farming implements.
The company's international footprint covers over 50 countries across six continents, with the United States representing its second-biggest market after India. Overseas operations include production and assembly plants in North America, Brazil, Finland, Turkey, and Japan.
