Mahindra & Mahindra has debuted four new SUV concepts as part of its Independence Day Celebrations. The Vision.T and Vision.SXT are two rugged SUV concepts, while the Vision.X and Vision.S are compact SUVs, all based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform, and will be manufactured at Mahindra’s plant in Chakan, Pune.

As mentioned, the Vision.T and Vision.SXT are hardcore off-road-oriented SUVs. The former is a more evolved version of the Thar.e concept that was showcased in 2023, while the latter is an even more hardcore version of the Vision.T but with a small pickup bed at the back instead.

The overall design language of both these concepts is quite similar, except from the C-pillar onwards. The Vision.T has a proper SUV body style, but the Vision.SXT has a stubby boot which houses two spare tyres and comes with roll bars. Both have different alloy wheels and grille designs. The Vision.T’s spare tyre is mounted on the tailgate.

Both get boxy headlamp and taillamp designs, a chunky grille (though different on both), and a different set of alloy wheels. Both have four doors and the rear door handles are mounted on the C-pillar, very similar to how it is on the Thar Roxx.

The Vision.S is a compact SUV that has a boxy design language, akin to the Vision.T. However, it seems more road-focused than the Vision.T. The Vision.S gets inverted L-shaped headlamps and taillamps, a boxy grille, a tailgate-mounted spare wheel and accessories on the D-pillar.

The Vision.X is more of a crossover than an SUV, with a coupe-ish design language. Of all the four concepts, this one has the most futuristic-looking design, while all others look like proper SUVs. The Vision.X gets slim headlamps, very thin connected LED taillamps, turbine-like alloy wheels and faux roof rails.

The interior of all these concepts has not yet been released but expect them to look radical inside as well. All could come with at least two large screens for the infotainment and instrument cluster, ADAS, connected car tech and more.

The four concepts are based on Mahindra’s new NU_IQ platform which will bring in a whole lot of tech to these four concepts. The new platform can have internal combustion engines and electric powertrains.

The production versions of these concepts are likely to go on sale in 2027. Mahindra says the new platform has been designed with the global market in mind, instead of just the indian market.
