Upon launch, the Mahindra XEV 9S will lock horns with Tata Harrier EV which is priced at ₹21.49 lakh and ₹30.23 lakh (both ex-showroom).
Mahindra launched its first two Electric Origin SUVs — XEV 9e and BE 6 — late last year. Opened to largely positive responses from the industry as well as consumers, the homegrown carmaker will keep the ball rolling with the launch of the third model in the Electric Origin series — XEV 9S.
Expected to be an all-electric equivalent to the XUV700, the Mahindra XEV 9S is slated to make its debut later this month on 26-27 November in Bengaluru. Ahead of its debut, Mahindra has shared a few teasers of the electric SUV on the company’s official social media handles. The latest teaser shared gives out a glimpse about the vehicle’s cabin interiors and features.
The teaser confirms that the XEV 9S will share the same interior s as the XEV 9e. The dashboard will get a familiar three-screen layout housing a central touchscreen unit, a digital instrument panel, and a touchscreen for the front passenger. The all-black cabin receives a premium touch with seats getting silver stitching on the sides and a silver plate coinciding with the shoulder blade of the occupant.

The latest also reveals premium comfort features such as a Harman Kardon sound system with Dolby Atmos, a power adjustable driver seat with memory function, toggle-like power window switches, a two-spoke steering wheel, and sliding function for second row seats which suggests the XEV 9S will come with a three-row seating setup, at least as an option.
Other novelties expected to make the cut are ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, electric parking brake, panoramic sunroof, remote parking functionality, and powered tailgate. Safety will be handled by Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, hill hold assist, electronic stability program, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera setup.
Like the other Born Electric siblings, the XEV 9S will be based on Mahindra’s INGLO skateboard architecture offering two LFP battery options — 59 kWh and 79 kWh — with 542 km and 656 km of range, respectively. The variant equipped with the smaller battery pack features a 170 kW (228 bhp) motor, while the larger battery option delivers 210 kW (281 bhp). Both versions produce an identical torque output of 380 Nm.
