Mahindra XEV 9S Launched At ₹19.95 Lakh — Up To 500km Range

Mahindra claims the XEV 9S to be the fastest seven-seat SUV in its segment with a 0-100 kmph acceleration time of 7.0 seconds.

A year after launching the first two Electric Origin SUVs — BE 6 and XEV 9E — Mahindra has launched its third offering in this lineup — XEV 9S. An all-electric equivalent of Mahindra XUV700, the SUV originally began as the XUV.e8, later transitioned to the XEV 7e nameplate, before finally settling on ‘XEV 9S’.

Offered at a starting price of ₹ 19.95 lakh (ex-showroom), Mahindra XEV 9S is available in three broad trims — Pack One, Pack Two, and Pack Three. The fully-loaded Pack Three variant is priced at ₹ 29.45 lakh (ex-showroom). Bookings for the electric mid-size SUV open on 14 January 2026 whereas deliveries are slated to commence 23 January onwards.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Exterior Design

As expected, the Mahindra XEV 9S visually shares a lot in common with the XUV700. In terms of styling, the 2025 XEV 9S sports a blanked-out front grille, L-shaped LED DRLs, and vertically stacked projector headlamps, complemented by an LED light bar across the fascia. Additional highlights include flush-fitting door handles, newly designed alloy wheels with aero inserts, roof rails, a shark-fin antenna, and Mahindra’s dedicated Electric badge at both the front and rear.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Interiors & Features

The XEV 9S shares the same interior s as the XEV 9e, barring one major difference, i.e, the former comes in a three-row seating layout. The dashboard features a familiar triple-screen arrangement, comprising a central touchscreen, a fully digital instrument cluster, and a dedicated touchscreen for the front passenger. Inside, the all-black cabin is given an upscale feel with seats that feature silver side stitching and a sleek silver insert aligned with the occupant’s shoulder area. It also offers a generous 527-litre boot and a best-in-class 150-litre frunk.

Additionally, the cabin is equipped with several premium comfort features, including a Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, a power-adjustable driver’s seat with memory function, toggle-style power window switches, a two-spoke steering wheel, and sliding second-row seats — indicating that the XEV 9S is likely to offer a three-row configuration, at least as an option. Some premium features offered in the XEV 9S include Powered Boss mode, ventilated second row seats with recline & sliding adjustment, digital key with NFC, 16-speaker Harman Kardon audio system with Dolby Atmos, etc.

One of the segment highlights is Secure360 Pro that offers live view, recording, and a new live communication feature, and more. Other highlights include ventilated front seats, ambient lighting, an electric parking brake, a panoramic sunroof, remote parking capability, and a powered tailgate. On the safety front, the SUV will offer Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, hill hold assist, an electronic stability program, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera system.

Mahindra XEV 9S: Battery & Motor Specs

Mahindra is offering as many as three battery options with the XEV 9S — 59 kWh, 70 kWh, and 79 kWh— paired with 170 kW (228 bhp), 180 kW (241 bhp), and 210 kW (282 bhp) electric motors, respectively. Torque output on three options remains identical at 380 Nm. The 79 kWh battery pack claims to return a 500 km real- world range on a full charge. As for performance, the Mahindra XEV 9S can clock a top speed of 202 kmph and can sprint from 0 to 100 kmph in 7.0 seconds, thus claiming to be the fastest seven-seat SUV in its class.
