Mahindra XEV 9S will be the third Electric Origin model to be underpinned by the IGLO skateboard architecture.
Mahindra XEV 9e and BE 6 made their debut almost a year ago. Now, the company is gearing up to launch its third Electric Origin SUV in the form of XEV 9S. The XEV 9S is slated to launch on 25 November 2025 at the Scream Electric event in Bengaluru and the company has already started building up anticipation for the battery-powered SUV by sharing multiple teasers of the same.
The XEV 9S will be Mahindra’s first three-row, born-electric SUV. It represents the third evolution of the electric 700 project, which originally began as the XUV.e8, later transitioned to the XEV 7e nameplate, and has now been officially named the XEV 9S.
Recent teasers shared on Mahindra’s social media handles reveal several new highlights of the XEV 9S. Based on the INGLO born-electric skateboard architecture, like the other two Mahindra Electric Origin SUV, the XEV 9S will visually resemble the XEV 9E to a great extent, barring the coupe profile of the latter.
We already have got a sneak peek into the cabin of the XEV 9S in the previous teasers. The all-black cabin receives a layout similar to the XEV 9E with the biggest highlights being the triple screen layout. Through the latest teaser, Mahindra has confirmed the addition of electrically powered front passenger seats which is commonly referred to as “Boss Mode”.

This marks an upgrade from the current XUV700’s manual Boss mode. The clip shows that the second-row left-side occupant will now be able to adjust both the backrest and the seat base using a dedicated switch panel. The video further highlights features such as a panoramic sunroof, beige interiors, and ventilated front seats.
Other novel features expected to be offered in XEV 9S include ambient lighting, electric parking brake, panoramic sunroof, remote parking functionality, and powered tailgate. Safety will be handled by Level 2 ADAS, seven airbags, hill hold assist, electronic stability program, front and rear parking sensors, and a 360-degree camera setup.
Mahindra will offer two LFP battery options with the XEV 9S — 59 kWh and 79 kWh — with 542 km and 656 km of range, respectively. The variant equipped with the smaller battery pack features a 170 kW (228 bhp) motor, while the larger battery option delivers 210 kW (281 bhp). Both versions produce an identical torque output of 380 Nm.
